Kiwanis Junior Ski Club - Pine Mountain The Kiwanis Junior Ski Club
      Iron Mountain, Michigan

Tournament March 18, 2006
Late season snow enabled the Kiwanis Junior Ski Club to hold a tournament on Saturday March 18. All the junior jumps were ready for action, including K5, K10, K25, and K48. The K48 (48 meter hill) has been newly redesigned, and Dan Englund set the new hill record at 49 meters. Weather was terrific, jumping was good, and everyone had a great time!  Click here for  COMPLETE RESULTS.

Kiwanis Junior Jump Complex
The Kiwanis Junior Ski Club jumping complex is located just east of the Pine Mountain 120 meter jump, and adjacent to the Pine Mountain Resort, just north of Iron Mountain MI. The junior jump sizes are 10, 20, and 40 meters, which refers to the distance a good jumper will fly on each of these smaller hills. The photo at left shows action on the 40 meter hill at our 2004 Central Junior tournament.   Bob Wicklund photo, click to enlarge.

We have an active youth development program. Ski jumping can be a wonderful activity for boys and girls. If you have questions about the junior program, you can e-mail Dave Maraccini, dmaraccini@yahoo.com or Carol Hammill mchammill@chartermi.net.

Pine Mountain's 120 meter jump
The majestic Pine Mountain ski jump is visible from miles around, poised high on a hilltop just northwest of the city of Iron Mountain, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It's about 100 miles straight north of Green Bay, US 141 & US 2. The larger Olympic jumps are this size ... the record flight on this hill is 142.5 meters, 468 feet!

The Kiwanis Ski Club's major event is usually held in late February. They hosted World Cup competition in 1996 and 2000, and have hosted Continental Cup meets in other years. This is a major event on the FIS international competition calendar. For more info and dates of the next event, please visit  www.kiwanisskiclub.com
