*** Anders Haugen earned a bronze medal at the first Winter Olympics in 1924.
It's still the only medal the United States has ever been awarded in ski jumping.

There's an interesting bit of trivia about Haugen's bronze medal.
Due to a scoring error, he didn't actually receive the medal
until 1974, when he was 83 years old.

I received a note on 2/18/02 from the current residents of his former
home in Burnsville, which was then called Orchard Gardens, asking
why he wasn't included on the list of Minnesota Olympians.

Was he a Minnesotan at the time of his participation at Chamonix, or
did he move to Minnesota after 1924? If someone can let me know
about his club affiliation, I'd appreciate it.
